Beacon Show contributors and resource links

Throughout The Beacon Show we worked with local organisations and individuals to build each beacons story, and utilised a number of amazing resources to research our project. 

Below you can find links to environmental resources, wildlife and marine life conservation and education, and also community links which were all part of building our project stories. 

Environment

Plastic Free Seaford meet every month for beach cleans and anyone can join in. They also offer a range of resources and information on their website which is really useful. Their amazing team of volunteers are avaliable for school talks and plastic audits for business's.

The Seaford Environmental Alliance run from their ECO hub in Seaford Town. They host a wide range of talks, a repair cafe, and childrens art workshops. 

Rampion is a large windfarm based off the Sussex shore. They produce enough green energy to fuel half of Sussex.

SAS work all over the world to reduce waste in our waters. They are also responsble for the Plastic Free Community scheme. 

Local Independant Sea Anglers work with conservation organisations to reduce the angleing waste in our oceans. 

Wildlife & Marine life

Sussex Wildlife Trust are an extraordinary organisation who work hard to protect both wildlife and marine life in Sussex. Their website is overflowing with brilliant information and resources. 

Wild Coast Sussex is a project created by Sussex Wildlife Trust which is focused on conservation of the local Sussex waters.

The Shark Trust works all over the UK, and if you find a Mermaids Purse washed up on any beach in the UK you can report it to them. This is part of a huge conservation project to protect sharks in our waters. 

Seaford Community & local links

The Seaford chapter of Cycling Without Age offer their services to elderly and those with physical disabilities.  

The RNLI is a national service keeping everyone safe at sea. 

The Seaford Mermaids is an open community group of sea swimmers in Seaford. Open to everyone of every swimming ability and age. Contact via email mermaids1250@yahoo.com

Seaford Museum at The Martello Tower is an absolute tresure trove of history! A must for any Seaford Beach visit! 

Newhaven & Seaford Sailing Club - membership is open to all sailing abilities, and they offer training and support 

Seaford Striders Running Club is a friendly, supportive affiliated club based in Seaford on the South Coast.
