The Green Show is the first event ever held at Seaford’s treasured South Hill Barn, situated on the top of Seaford Head between the beach and Cuckmere Haven.
Thurs 15th to Sun 18th & Thurs 22nd - Sun 25th August 2019
A stunning contemporary art exhibition - Creative workshops for all ages - Evening lectures to inform and inspire and Films showing our landscape from unique perspectives
All events are based on the themes of nature, the landscape and environment - with particular focus on our beautiful corner of the South Downs.
The entire event will celebrate the landscape and nature, and explore the effects of climate change and plastics on our local area. The Green Show will boast an extraordinary display of artworks by over 30 of the UK’s best known Illustrators and Printmakers, created exclusively for The Green Show.
Film: We will have a mini cinema, looping a series of short films and documentaries about the Sussex landscape, the Rampion Wind Farm, Seaford’s Plastic Free campaign, the nature reserve and many more. This will be open every day and free to watch.
Visitors can contribute to our interactive art installation and book on to our art workshop program too. These will be available to all ages and free where possible.
Workshops play a key role in any SCIP event and this event will host more than ever, with free workshops for kids of all ages including those with special needs and learning disabilities.
Adults need not be disappointed this year either as we have some extraordinary opportunities for the grown-ups to get creative too!
Wildlife drawing, screen printing and kids crafts will all play a part in this fun and inclusive programme of activities.
Many workshops require pre-booking - please go to our What's On page to reserve your place.
Lectures: If that wasn’t enough, in the evening the barn will become our lecture hall with a series of talks about nature, environment and the creative arts.
For our Nature Night lectures - Saturday 17th August - we have already secured a talk by Tim Squire from South Downs National Park Authority illustrated by his beautiful photography of chalk grassland wildlife. Also Claire Sumners, lead of the Plastic Free Seaford campaign who will be speaking about her Zero Waste Journey.
We are delighted to announce that on Arts Night - Saturday 24th August - we shall be joined by local author Giles Paley-Phillips and Simon Armstrong of Ticktockrobot animation studio who is also Seaford based. Both will inspire and entertain with insights to their working processes and creative journey.
Both lecture evenings are 7pm to 9pm and although FREE, places need to be reserved here.
We are currently designing our leaflet which will list all events at The Green Show.
