The Green Show at South Hill Barn, Seaford, August 15th-18th & 22nd-25th 2019
Thanks to our generous sponsors and with many contributions from the community, The Green Show has become a reality. Huge sincere thanks to all of you who have helped to make this happen.
Final preparations are under way for our community arts event to open at South Hill Barn on Thursday August 15th at 10a.m!
As you will know by now, our theme is nature, landscape and the environment/climate change. Artists were invited to produce a piece of work on that theme: a rather open brief.
As each piece has been delivered it’s been fascinating to see how each artist has interpreted that in their own individual style.
Expect an inspiring display of contemporary artworks in the main barn, with pieces from Sir Quentin Blake, Owen Davey, See Creatures, Donna Wilson, Graham Carter and Sam Chivers. Artwork is in a variety of mediums including 3D sculpture, original painting, limited edition silk screen and giclée prints. All artworks will be for sale at the show; there’s nothing quite like seeing a great artwork ‘in the flesh’ but if you are unable to attend The Green Show in person, you certainly have the option of buying online - shop link coming soon!
If you can visit the show in person we hope to enlighten you with more detail on each artwork. The beautiful rural setting is worth the journey itself! Please use sustainable transport wherever you can. Bus routes 12, 12A and 12B stop at the bottom of Chyngton Lane - a track that leads straight up to the barn. Scroll down for maps.
We still have a few spaces left at these events - dip your toe in, you may discover a new passion!
All events take place in a stunning rural location, the exhibition will be open, materials (where necessary) are included and you can enjoy a freshly baked pizza up here too so you can really make a day of it!
A small selection of Green Show artists . . .
We will also have a mini cinema, looping a series of short films and documentaries about the Sussex landscape, the Rampion Wind Farm, Seaford’s Plastic Free campaign and the nature reserve. Also showing will be Yourscape - an uplifting compilation of amateur film footage provided by the public accompanied by a beautiful score by local musician Oliver Spink. This will be open every day and free to watch.
Visitors can contribute to our interactive art installation too - free to join in - all materials provided and available during normal opening hours, 10-5 each day.
