Seaford Contemporary Illustrators and Printmakers (SCIP) presents The Book Show, an exhibition of new artworks inspired by Children’s literature, created by some of the UK’s finest illustrators and printmakers.

Join us at Arts@TheCrypt Gallery in Seaford for five days of unique artworks, workshops and book readings suitable for all the family. Come along on World Book Day, Thursday 1st March, take part in our fancy dress competition and listen to some magical tales. FREE ENTRY.

  • Exhibition of contemporary illustration and printmaking by a selection of the UK’s best artists. Affordable limited edition prints available to view and buy throughout the show.

  • Join us for a mark making workshop (ideal for ages 3-6)

  • Design your own book cover! There will be blank templates of book jackets with famous titles, ready for you to add the design. Entries can be posted in the special box and winners in each age category will be selected to receive a prize.  

  • Colouring fun – free colouring for all ages with colouring sheets designed by SCIP members Sally Elford, Josie Jo and Graham Carter.

  • The ever popular 'Rhyme Time' will be here at The Crypt with Henry from East Sussex Libraries.

  • On Thursday 1st March we will have a World Book Day fancy dress competition for all school age children. Just turn up dressed as your favourite character from a children's book. Our favourite costumes will receive a prize! 4pm – 5pm

  • Also on World Book Day (Thursday 1st of March) we will have Professional Storyteller Joanna Gilar performing at 4.15 pm.            
  • Professional storyteller Jon Mason will be performing a finale in the Crypt to close The Book Show on Sunday the 4th of March



Children (and their grown-ups) are encouraged to get messy experimenting with printing and mark making. Workshops running throughout the exhibition.

Furnishings for our underground reading 'den' will be supplied by the wonderful Arabian Tent Company.
